Stay posted for the current info on our second annual Gala event! This year, Our event will be held at the Mark Twain House in Hartford on April 9th, from 10 am to 4pm. We have three dynamic speakers, including a fellow who promises to tell us why Twain didn't like Austen. what fun!

June 22, 2003 - JASNA CT Chapter Meeting and Business Meeting

What if the characters from different Jane Austen novels met one another? What advice would they give one another? Imagine Mary Crawford meeting Anne Elliott? At this month's program, chapter members will portray a character from one novel conversing with someone from another. The scripts have been written by our own Dr. Jean Brassil.

Directions to West Hartford Public Library, 20 South Main Street, West Hartford: Take I-84 east or west. Take exit 43, Park Rd. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Park Rd. At 1st stop light, turn right onto Raymond Rd. Go through one traffic light. Take the second left onto Memorial Rd. Take the 1st right onto Isham Rd. The library parking lot is on the left. January 23-March 30, 2003 - Jane Austen's Portrait on display at Yale!

The Yale Center of British Art will be hosting the collection "Romantics and Revolutionaries: Regency Portraits from the National Gallery in London". This includes the only confirmed likeness of Jane Austen, as drawn by her sister. Don't miss this opportunity!

April 27, 2003 - CT Chapter JASNA Meeting

Other meetings will be held June 22, (West Hartford Library), and Sept 21, (Place tbd). We had planned to hold the Annual Birthday Tea on December 7, but would like to discuss Tea plans and other options with members.

Coming from the North: Take route 9 to Exit 3. Cross Route 154 and proceed straight ahead a short distance to Route 153. Turn right onto Route 153 and proceed south to Route 1 (Boston Post Road) in Westbrook. Take a left onto Route 1. **Go past the old library on the Green and continue East a short distance, past the Diary Mart (on the right), to Goodspeed Drive on the left. Take a left up Goodspeed Drive and take a left into the Library driveway at the top of the hill.

Coming from the East or West: Take I-95 and get off at Exit 65 and go South on Route 153 to Route 1. Take a left onto Route 1. Follow directions from ** above.

NOTE: For meetings and events in the Community Center located in the lower level of the Library, park in the lot behind the library.

October 9-12, 2003 - JASNA 2003 AGM

The 2003 Annual General Meeting is scheduled to be held in Winchester, England, and will correspond with the opening of the Chawton House Library. Festivities will include a day in a Regency town. Registration is limited to 250 and is on a first come, first serve basis.
